1. School Walkthrough for SoS version 1.9.9
  2. Each weapon has a base proficiency cost of (1) to purchase at level one.
  3. All Schools have a cost, from [0] to [2].
  4. Beyond this, all Schools cost {1} or more extra per primary/secondary.
  5. If you are a human and join a School, each weapon's base proficiency cost is reduced by (-1).
  6. Note that each School *requires* a certain amount of proficiencies be taken, Self Taught requires 1 Primary, Noble and Officer require 1 Primary and 1 Secondary, Soldier requires 3 Primary, and Esoteric requires 1 Primary. Any beyond this are optional, up to the limit imposed by the School.
  7. Most Schools have Multiple Tiers of Proficiency, this raises or lowers the effective level, and thus the Combat Pool, of that proficiency. The Self Taught has CP penalties to Secondary, whereas the Noble, Officer, and Esoteric have a CP bonus to their Primary Proficiencies, while all weapons in the Soldier are at the same level. Note that these effective levels do not grant access to new talents.
  8. Level 1 Human Self Taught with three Proficiencies, one of which is a Primary:
  9. Self Taught School costs [0]. Each proficiency, both primary and secondary costs {1}, for a total of {3}. Each proficiency has a base cost of (1), but are each reduced by (-1) as per the Willing to Learn special rule, for a total of (0). Total first level costs equal *3*.
  10. Level 1 Goblin Self Taught with three Proficiencies, one of which is a Primary:

  28. Beyond this point, each level of the School costs only as much to upgrade as it would to upgrade a single proficiency.
  29. Additionally, Soldier School subtracts 1 from the costs of both Tier One and Tier Two maneuvers, but increases Mastery Tier cost by 1.

  78. Often when creating a character, you may find that you have unlocked a level of proficiency with a School and still have a spare point or two, but not enough to gain the next level, As there is no RAW way to save these points, it’s usually best to add another proficiency to the School.
