  50. Alexander leads Macedon and Cyrus leads Persia in Sid Meier's Civilization
  51. VI! Macedon's abilities will let you conquer the whole world, and Persia
  52. can grow rich and cultured, or launch surprise invasions with incredible
  53. ease. These historical adversaries are paired well together, and feature in
  54. the new Conquests of Alexander scenario. Can you determine the fate of the
  55. Near East, and the course of history?
  57. Includes the Macedonian civilization with Alexander the Great, the
  58. Hypaspist unique unit, and the Basilikoi Paides unique building:
  60. * Civ Unique Ability: The Hellenistic Fusion ability gives Macedon Tech
  61. or Civic Eurekas depending on what Districts are present in a captured
  62. city.
  63. * Leader Unique Ability: Alexander's To World's End ability lets Macedon
  64. stay at war longer by greatly reducing war weariness. He also gives
  65. Macedon the Hetairoi: a fast Heavy Cavalry unit that starts with a free
  66. promotion, which replaces the Horseman.
  67. * Unique Unit: The Hypaspist replaces the Swordsman, gets extra bonuses
  68. from supporting units, and is stronger at besieging Districts.
  69. * Unique Building: The Basilikoi Paides can be built in any Encampment
  70. that doesn't have a stable. It provides bonuses for all melee, ranged
  71. land, and Hetairoi trained in the city. It also provides some science
  72. anytime a non-civilian unit is created in the city.
  74. Also includes the Persian civilization with Cyrus, the Immortal unique
  75. unit, and the Pairidaeza unique improvement:
  77. * Civ Unique Ability: The Satrapies ability gives Persia a free Trade
  78. Route when they develop Political Philosophy, and enhanced yields from
  79. their internal trade routes.
  80. * Leader Unique Ability: Cyrus has the Fall of Babylon ability, giving
  81. movement and yield bonuses for a short time after declaring a Surprise
  82. War, and negating some of the diplomatic penalties of declaring a
  83. Surprise War too.
  84. * Unique Unit: Persia's unique unit is the famous Immortal. This
  85. Swordsman replacement gets a bonus ranged attack, and is very strong on
  86. defense.
  87. * Unique Improvement: The Pairidaeza provide Culture, Gold, and Appeal,
  88. as well as bonus Culture or Gold for adjacent Districts and City Centers.
  89. Over time, they'll provide even more yields as you advance through the
  90. tech & civic tree.
  92. New Conquests of Alexander Scenario:
  94. * Race against time to prove yourself as great a conqueror as Alexander
  95. the Great! This scenario is focused on combat, expansion, and the
  96. calculated use of your Great Generals.
  97. * As you increase the difficulty, you have fewer and fewer turns in which
  98. to conquer the known world, providing a real challenge for military
  99. strategists.
  101. Two New Wonders:
  103. * Mausoleum at Halicarnassus: One of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient
  104. World returns to Civilization. The Mausoleum allows you to get additional
  105. bonuses from your Great Admirals and Great Engineers.
  106. * Apadana: The Persians were famous for their audience halls, and the
  107. best example was found in Persepolis. This Wonder provides extra Envoys
  108. every time you build a World Wonder including the Apadana!
