  51. Introduction :
  53. The Fall of the Dungeon Guardians is an RPG Dungeon Crawler game,
  54. in First Person View, inspired by classics like Dungeon MasterÖ and
  55. Might & Magic«, but featuring a modern combat system based on the
  56. triptych ôtank/damage dealer/healerö mechanism.
  58. Story :
  60. Youĺre a newly employed guard of a prison deep inside a dungeon.
  61. The night of your arrival, strange things happen and when you wake
  62. up in the morning, all prisoners have escaped amidst chaos. The
  63. warden wisely decides to leave the dungeon as quickly as possible,
  64. while tasking you to run after the escaping prisoners. You then
  65. assemble your team and venture into the mysterious dungeon.
  67. A Call For Adventure :
  69. Enter a big, massive dungeon, full of danger, mystery and secrets.
  70. Fight your way through hordes of enemies and powerful creatures.
  71. Explore intricate corridors, underground palaces, mines fallen into
  72. oblivion and evil crypts.
  74. Solve puzzles, avoid deadly traps, uncover hidden passages, and
  75. keep your bearing through mazes & hallways.
  77. Character Building :
  79. Youĺll take command of a party of 4 guardians. Each guardian comes
  80. with a set of spells & abilities, with new ones appearing over the
  81. course of the adventure.
  83. For each new level reached, the guardians get a point to use in
  84. their talent trees, allowing them to reinforce their abilities or
  85. gain new powers.
  87. There are 4 classes to choose from: the warrior, the healer, the
  88. mage & the rogue. Each class has 3 specializations represented by a
  89. talent tree, and each specialization comes with its own set of
  90. abilities. So you have 12 base build-ups. In addition, your
  91. guardians can choose freely to spend their talent points in any of
  92. the 3 specializations of their class, allowing for even more varied
  93. set-ups.
  95. The dungeon is filled with loot: epic armors, legendary weapons and
  96. mystical, magical items. Often when you kill a group of enemies,
  97. theyĺll drop a random piece of equipment that one of your guardians
  98. can use, raising more and more of their powers.
  100. Evolved Combat System :
  102. The combat is focused on the triptych ôtank/damage dealer/healerö
  103. mechanism, coupled with an exciting threat mechanism: your healerĺs
  104. spells directly threaten all the enemies nearby, and thus your tank
  105. must use his abilities to attract their wrath and protect the
  106. healer. The tank must then be able to mitigate a lot of the enemy
  107. damage using his defensive skills.
  109. Your last 2 guardians will be the damage dealers, trying to kill
  110. the enemies as fast as possible, while theyĺre busy with the tank.
  111. All guardians get a lot of abilities and not only will using the
  112. right one at the right moment be essential to your partyĺs
  113. survival, but also combining different abilities in sequence to
  114. maximize their efficiency will be required to vanquish your
  115. strongest foes.
  117. It sounds like a lot, but fortunately the game comes with an active
  118. pause: you can pause the game whenever you feel like it, check
  119. everything, queue the next abilities for your guardians, and then
  120. resume the game.
  122. You donĺt like tanks, or you donĺt like pausing the game? No
  123. problem, just lower the game difficulty, and youĺll be able to play
  124. without a real tank or pausing. You can precisely tune the
  125. difficulty at any time during your exploration.
  127. Unlike old-school FPV Dungeon Crawlers, you donĺt have to
  128. strafe-turn-strafe-turn all the time in Dungeon Guardians. Your
  129. tank comes with serious defensive skills (armor, dodge & parry)
  130. that let him handle most of the enemy attacks, as long as the
  131. healer backs him up. So most fights are done while standing your
  132. ground.
  134. However, occasionally your whole party will have to dodge some
  135. extremely powerful enemy attacks, usually by walking back, so
  136. youĺll still need some moving reflexes and awareness of your
  137. surroundings during the fights.
  139. Built-in Map editor & Modding :
  141. The game comes with a full featured map editor, letting you create
  142. your own dungeons. The basics are very simple, but a bit of
  143. learning will be required to handle the more advanced puzzle
  144. mechanisms.
  146. Additionally, with the Modding SDK, youĺll be able to fine-tune the
  147. existing enemies, classes, specializations, abilities, talents,
  148. gear, and enchantments, and with a bit of dedication you should be
  149. able to add your own, and even add sound FX or music.
