  13. Pandora: First Contact is a science fiction 4X turn-based strategy game
  14. on a planetary scale - a spiritual successor to Sid Meier's
  15. Alpha Centauri.
  17. In the future, factions have risen up from opportunities and ideologies
  18. independent of governments. Private corporations and religious movements
  19. have started wars over greed, ideology and power. Many have died and
  20. many lands lay in ruin. Planet Earth has been exhausted and colonial
  21. attempts on other planetary bodies have been in vain.
  23. Finally, after decades of exploration, an interstellar probe has brought
  24. promise of a new world many light-years away. The most powerful factions
  25. have gathered their best men and women to send on a long journey to
  26. Pandora.
  28. Far from desolate, the earth-like planet has been found to host a
  29. plethora of indigenous life forms. While the gigantic monstrosities
  30. inland and at the oceans seem relatively calm, human-sized bugs and
  31. fungus are threatening to stop mankind's expansion.
  33. As the various factions strive to take control, each will research
  34. and develop numerous new technologies, discovering new weapons and
  35. industry, whilst opening trade agreements and forging alliances with
  36. other factions to gain a foothold. As they spread, they will discover
  37. ancient ruins from alien civilizations that will grant them advantages
  38. over their rivals.
