1. The Answer is 42
  2. We’ve all had questions regarding life, the universe, and everything about it, whether we asked them to each other or simply to ourselves. However, one famous entity has already answered this through an iconic book. The answer, is 42-coin, a PoS+PoW coin with public and anonymous transactions.
  3. As such, a coin was made around this iconic number. With a maximum supply of 42 coins, it would not only embody the number, but also make each coin extremely rare. However, the number could not be used everywhere, and thus factors of the number were implemented in other areas, in the hopes of staying true to it. For example, the number of transaction confirmations is 7, which is 1/6th of 42, and the JSON-RPC Port is 2121, a repetition of 21, which is ½ of 42.
  4. Since June 2016, a new inception of the coin has been created in order to bring 42-coin back into the present. However, holders of the older version of the coin, which was created on the 4th of January, 2014, were not left in the dust. A snapshot was taken so they could take part in this new blockchain through a swap. A key difference being that there will only be 42 coins in existence. The older version had an unlimited number of coins.
  5. The price of the old coin was high, at one point reaching over 1000 BTC per coin, or roughly $1 million per coin, thus making it the most valuable coin in crypto at one point in time on a per-coin basis. While the price of the coin is no longer at that level, the price of one of the coins still commands a relatively high amount of BTC compared to other altcoins. Since the announcement in June, the price of the coin has increased from about 60 mBTC per coin to over 100 mBTC per coin. At one point, the coin had a glimpse of the glory days of the old coin, reaching as high as 8.9 BTC per coin, which is about $7600 per coin.
  6. With the coin under new active management, a community is slowly, but surely, growing around it. The work that was done for the old coin was not lost, however, with it still being listed on Bitcoin Checker, an Android app that checks the most recent prices of various altcoins and BTC itself, as well as Bitcoin Buzz Feeds, an app that notifies users of news and other events around various altcoins. New work has also been completed, with a wallet for Windows and Linux with support for anonymous transactions, a new key feature, completed in November 2016. A wallet for Mac was released in January 2017 and an Android wallet will be released soon, thus making 42-coin one of the few coins with a core-developed mobile wallet. Other planned improvements are also underway, such as making a full website for the coin and pushing for it to be added into more exchanges, all planned for 2017.
  7. With no premine and no ICO, the relaunch of 42-coin makes it one of the few new communities that stays true to the principles brought on by Bitcoin. It’s not too late for you to join the community. Come join us on bitcointalk, IRC, Twitter, or Tox and joining us in spreading the answer of life, the universe, and everything.
