- OALeague rules draft
- This document describes my ideas on the new league's rules and general goings, it is purely intended to start off conversations and not intended to be the end result.

- 0) Introduction
- This might seem like a daunting set of rules, but the principles are very simple: Transparency. These rules should make sure that nothing happens in secret, so that everything can be verified and no problems can continue to exist in 'the dark'. It all boils down to keeping everything in the public forum. The second thing is about dispute resolution.
- The important thing these rules try to do is make the league as open as possible!
- 1) Admin system
- To ensure fairness as much as possible for the OALeague a two-level admin system is implemented. Super-admins and admins.
- Every clan/team is allowed to present one admin for the league, but is not obligated to. There will be a limited number of super-admins that are chosen by the admins put forward by each team or clan. A super admin has the same tasks as a normal admin apart from dispute resolution.
- A super admin, other than a regular admin, does not need to be part of any clan or league.
- All communication between admins will be done through the forum or a logged IRC channel.
- 1.1) Admins
- The roles of the admins is the daily running of the league, which is a group task. Admission of new clans/teams, keeping scores and settling disputes.
- 1.1.1) Disputes
- Disputes will always be settled by a majority vote of the admins within 72 hours (three days) of the dispute being posted on the forums. The admins provided by the clans involved in the dispute are not part of the voting. If a dispute cannot or is not solved within 72 hours a super-admin will make the decision, which is final as this means that either the other admins did not care enough to vote, or that it was impossible to reach a consensus.
- 1.1.2) Daily running
- The admin team will:
- • Make sure that the scores are tallied
- • Moderate the various discussion forums, chat rooms and other forms of communication
- • Confirm date and time of each clanmatch with clanleaders of both clans
- 1.2 Super admins
- The role of the super admins are identical to those of regular admins except that they are chosen by the admins supplied by the clans/teams. These admins have final say in any dispute that is not resolved within 72 hours.
- This extra power is possible because these super-admins are elected by the other admins and thus a certain amount of confidence in their judgment is implied.
- For every four admins, one super admin is elected with a minimum of three and a maximum of five.
- Super-admins can be removed by a majority vote of the admins.
- 2) Matches
- The following rules apply to the matches played between teams.
- 2.1 Match dates
- A challenge for a match is made by one clan leader to another, once the challenge has been made the challenged clan has one week to reply. If the reply does not come, the matter will automatically become a dispute to be settled by the admins. No default action is stated in the rules because there may be a myriad of reasons why a clan can't answer maybe national holidays that are not widely known.
- If no match date can be agreed upon, the matter automatically becomes a dispute to be settled by the admins.
- 2.2 Match times
- Before every match the start time is verified by the clan leaders of both clans, this verification needs to take place in the public forum.
- 2.2.2 Postponing
- A match may be postponed once by either clan for a maximum of 9 days after which the the clan that postponed the match automatically forfeits and the other clan wins with the maximum amount of points. It is of course possible for two clans to come to a different agreement in which case *both* clanleaders post it in the public forum.
- 2.3 Behavior
- All players of all clans will be respectful to each other. No amount of insult or abuse is allowed.
- 2.4 Referees
- Every match must have at least one referee. A referee is either a referee chosen by the admin team, or a member of the admin team. A referee for a given match cannot be in any of the clans playing in that match.
- A referee will make demos of the matches and communicate the score with the admin team, who will then tally the scores.
- All decisions during a game by a referee are final and can be disputed later to be voted on by the admins, not during a game.
- 3) Match schedule
- At the start of each round, a duration will be agreed upon by the admin team during which time all the matches for that round will be played. At the end of this period all points will be tallied and the winners of that round will be announced regardless of whether or not all matches have been played. If a clan/team is waiting for a postponed match to be played, the tally of the final score will be postponed as well. This can lead to a delay of no more than nine days per round.
