- Release Notes:
- --------
- I was well acquainted with most of The Parlotones new songs after following them
- to almost every venue they played in Joburg - so you can understand why I was so
- excited to get my hands on a copy of this album. 慉 World Next Door To Yours?is
- yet another example of South African music being underrated in the international
- scene. Due to the reaction of their previous album 慠adioControlledRobot? The
- Parlotones have been making waves north of the equator, and are generating a new
- interest in the ignored talent in this country.
- Produced by Cape Town based Theo Crous, the production is of international
- standard. It is easy to tell that there has been a lot of work put into this
- album, and not only time and skill, but for a Joburg (or according to MySpace,
- UK) based band, it抯 not easy to just pop down to the studio when it is based in
- Cape Town. These guys know that playing hard goes hand in hand with working hard
- and it has definitely paid off.
- The album is captivating and easy to listen to which is vital for testing
- further markets. It still has the unmistakable 慞arlotones?sound and style
- which put them on the music map in the first place. It抯 a great example of a
- band being true to themselves while collecting as many people as they can to
- join in on the ride.
- The word 憇oundtrack?keeps popping up when people discuss this album, it even
- shows up in one of the songs, but it really is a great way to explain the album
- as a whole. The lyrics seem to tell more of a story than before. They are
- beautifully poetic and Kahn knows how to take a simple idea or feeling and bring
- it to life. The songs on this album are slower and more soulful than before but
- there are still the more quirky upbeat songs that keep the album alive.
- If all you have heard off this album is 慓iant Mistake?on Highveld while stuck
- in the traffic in the mornings, you are in for a surprise when you buy (not
- copy) this album. There are so many potential singles throughout that will keep
- you more and more interested in what The Parlotones have t
