  72.         restore mistakenly deleted files with the click of a mouse and

  108.         Äš Previously referred to as the Registry Cleaner, this module
  109.           scans the Windows registry. Ashampoo WinOptimizer 5 finds
  110.           broken links that have empty references and automatically
  111.           either eliminates or immediately repairs them. The integration
  112.           with real-time backup here ensures that it is always possible
  113.           to restore the original condition of the registry.

  116.         Äš Under Windows Vista, all the cleaner modules of Ashampoo
  117.           WinOptimizer 5 can be launched from this gadget. Even
  118.           One-Click Optimization can now be run from the gadget. Users
  119.           can also view a graphic representation of processes with the
  120.           gadget and have the available capacity of their hard drives
  121.           displayed.

  126.         With its two new modules and countless enhancements, Ashampoo
  127.         WinOptimizer 5 provides many more features than its predecessor.

  130.         Äš Drive Cleaner: Drive Cleaner searches the hard drive for files
  131.           that are no longer needed so they can be deleted upon
  132.           confirmation from the user. The search algorithm for this
  133.           module has been considerably improved for increased
  134.           efficiency. What's more, comprehensive information is now
  135.           available for the objects that are found.

  137.         Äš Tweaking Tools: Hundreds of settings can easily be switched on
  138.           and off in this module with a click of the mouse. Not only the
  139.           visual appearance and general behavior of Windows in certain
  140.           situations is addressed here, but also topics such as
  141.           security, Internet, and multimedia. The integration with the
  142.           real-time backup makes it possible to undo all changes at any
  143.           time here as well.

  145.         Äš Process Manager: Now, frozen windows from crashed applications
  146.           are no longer a problem. The Process Manager deals with these
  147.           applications in short order, kicking them out of memory and
  148.           off the screen. Suspicious applications can also be
  149.           immediately terminated in this manner. What's new is that the
  150.           module not only lists all active processes, but also provides
  151.           corresponding information on them. A new visual aid also shows
  152.           which system processes are absolutely necessary so that they
  153.           are not deleted.

  155.         Äš StartUp Tuner: This module displays all autostart entries,
  156.           allowing users to deactivate irritating programs so that they
  157.           are no longer executed when Windows starts up. This module
  158.           also now names the autostart entries that are absolutely
  159.           necessary and should not be switched off by the user. An
  160.           overview and recommendation for unnecessary services is now
  161.           also available for Windows Vista. Requested by many users:

  163.           necessary.

  165.         Äš File Wiper: When Windows deletes files, they're not really
  166.           removed, but rather made available for overwriting. In short:
  167.           Any data thief can easily restore them. The File Wiper deletes
  168.           data with sensitive contents completely, making it impossible

  170.           version is fully integrated into the Windows Explorer context
  171.           menu and can accordingly be opened from that location without
  172.           starting the main application. In addition, performance has
  173.           been noticeably improved.
