if you're having trouble installing please read my post

 

 

im using vista 32 bit, i was having the same problem as other users when running the setup.. this is what i did...

extract the 4 parts

open up "Portal.Uploaded.By.Aliator1"

then what i did was select ripforgames 0 through 5 and extracted those.

which gives u a "ripforgames0" folder.

once that is done open portal.exe from "ripforgames0" folder and it should be working

hopefully this will help those who need it Smile

 

one problem alitaor, i have no sound Sad

any idea why?

or possibly a fix?

 

EDIT: i was looking through console and saw the errors i was receiving.

"failed to loud sound yada yada yada.wav"

and it pointed out the directory to where the sounds were located. after going to the directory, i realized they were in mp4 format and console is looking for .wav files !!!

will report back if i can find a fix because i don't know how to convert these files to wav

 

EDIT2: once i converted the files in the portal/hl2/sound folder into wav files.. I HAD SOUND Very Happy

now the only trouble im having is having to convert each file individually.

once i get them all converted ill up the converted sounds folder to rapidshare for those who want it

Also i found a second set of sounds that needed to be converted in the portal/portal/sounds directory.
