1. Gavin Igor McGregor
  2. Born in Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire in 1981 to a Christian Scottish mother (Alison McGregor) and an Agnostic Cherno-Russian father, Igor, Gavin was an only child of the happy couple. Frank and plain, he was the perfect picture of innocence and truth. His parents had met when his father had come to Scotland on a work trip, working for the Russian space program of the time. Alison was the English translator assigned to assist him; throughout their classes they developed a relationship, and shortly before Igor had to return to his home in Russia, they conceived a child; Gavin.
  3. Alison never saw Igor again; she raised Gavin as an only child, but naturally Gavin began to question who his father was. He began asking Alison questions she couldn’t -didn’t want to- answer about his father, and once he had finished sixth form and university, studying aeronautical-engineering at degree level, Gavin decided enough was enough.
  4. After earning some money shooting rabbits, rats and other rodents and vermin for local farmers, as well as teaching his collie dog, Max, some tricks for street performance, Gavin bought the cheapest flight he could find to Chernarus, which was the closest locality he knew about his father. He said goodbye to his mother and left Max in her care, and left for the airport.
  5. Once Gavin arrived, he stayed inside an apartment in Elektrozavodsk, one of the larger towns in the region, and began making inquiries as to where he might find retired workers from the Russian space movement of the ‘80s. He also began to inquire for work in the aeronautical engineering areas; fixing military planes and helicopters were his primary tasks.
  6. Gavin’s search began well, but after only a few short months of searching for his father, disaster struck. There began to be reports of strange zombie-like beings spreading across the country like wildfire; before 48 hours had passed, the UN had stopped all trade in and out of Chernarus, blocked borders, and stopped all contact with the outside world.
  7. Gavin was trapped.
  8. Forced to fend for himself, the first couple of weeks he lay low in the appartments as the infection spread. It seemed to go through whole towns without infecting some people; was there a genetic immunity?
  9. As the disease began to infect more and more Cherno-Russians, people began to band together. Some would simply gather food and resources, then head off and camp somewhere safe away from the towns, where the zombies (or “zeds” as they became known) would linger. Other groups would raid towns and villages for food and drink, and go on zombie-hunting missions together, taking weapons from the numerous military bases stationed around Chernaraus.
  10. Gavin was mostly lonesome, teaming up with bandit groups or campers nown and then, dependent, but mostly keeping himself to himself, believing it was the simplest way; no trust worries. However, he felt -and still does- that if he could find a group of people -or just one or two people- that felt the same way he did, that would be great.
  11. He is still wondering about his missing father, but now he has a greater problem on his hands.
  12. Survival. Gavin is willing to take any lengths to survive and perhaps eventually find his father, if he is still alive. Perhaps even kill another man, if it comes to it.
