  38. DOOM.1993.Update.v1.08.PS4-DUPLEX.pkg (1.00 won't work offline).
  39. Just like our release of Quake, we made sure to include ALL mods/addons/DLC
  40. (call them whatever you want) currently available. No online connection is
  41. needed.
  42. To make it easy for you, we relinked the download partition to the actual
  43. 1.08 update so the game will see them as pre-installed. You can find them
  44. in the "Addon" menu.

  65. - Introducing "Add-ons^"! Add-ons bring free downloadable content to the
  66. re-releases of DOOM and DOOM II, consisting of official map packs as well
  67. as some of the best community episodes and megawads released for the
  68. original DOOM titles. On both DOOM and DOOM II you'll find TNT: Evilution
  69. and The Plutonia Experiment, the two map packs that constituted the retail
  70. Final DOOM release. Together those alone represent over 60 levels of
  71. gameplay^! On DOOM II you'll also find No Rest for the Living, a map pack
  72. created by our friends at Nerve Software.
  73. - 60 FPS Support: For the first time, DOOM and DOOM II now run at 60 FPS on
  74. all platforms, instead of 35 FPS as in the original releases.
  75. - Added Aspect Ratio Option: Stretches the display vertically to match the
  76. original 4:3 aspect ratio that the game was intended to be played in.
  77. - Added Quick Save and Load: Pause the game, and press R1 to immediately
  78. save where you are, and unpause the game. Load your quick save by pausing
  79. the game and then pressing L1.
  80. - Added Level Select: Pick an episode, map, and difficulty of your
  81. choosing, and immediately play on it without having to clear the previous
  82. levels first.
  83. - Added Weapon Carousel: You no longer need to cycle through every weapon
  84. to get to the one you want. Press Previous or Next Weapon to highlight the
  85. weapon you want, and it will swap immediately to the selected gun.
  86. - Added Quick Weapon Select: The Directional Buttons can now be used to
  87. quickly swap between weapons.
  88. Up Button: Shotgun and Super Shotgun
  89. Right Button: Chaingun
  90. Down Button: Rocket Launcher
  91. Left Button: Plasma Gun
  92. - Added Overall Brightness and Level Brightness: Turn up Overall Brightness
  93. to make the colors brighter, but if that isn't enough, you can also raise
  94. Level Brightness to change the brightness of the lights in the world.
  95. - Added Random SFX Pitch Toggle: Turn off randomized sound pitches during
  96. playback, which was a feature present in early versions of the original
  97. DOOM release.
  98. - New split screen HUD: A minimal HUD will be used when playing split
  99. screen multiplayer. The bottom status bar is removed, allowing more room
  100. for the game to be displayed in.
  101. Changes
  102. - Changed Health Graphics: The pill has been changed into a green plus,
  103. making the graphics closer to their original appearance.
  104. - Changed Wolfenstein Secret Level: Enemies in the Wolfenstein level have
  105. been restored to the original DOS release. The original textures and enemy
  106. audio have been re-added to the level, but with [censored] references
  107. removed.
  108. Performance Optimizations
  109. - Several optimizations to DOOM's software renderer have been made in order
  110. to better support 60 FPS.
  111. - Improved behavior when starting the game out of rest mode. There still
  112. may be cases that cause the game to lock up after awakening.
  113. - Sped up various UI animations to make navigating through menus quicker.
  114. Fixes
  115. - Fixed an issue from the original DOS release where map objects would not
  116. correctly track the player after loading a saved game. This also fixes an
  117. occasional crash with loading a save game with an active BFG projectile.
  118. - Fixed an issue where the game would skip ahead several tics after
  119. unpausing.
  120. - Fixed an issue where attract mode demos would desync, causing demo
  121. playback to deviate from the original DOS release.

  124. - The Audio has been overhauled, and positional audio should now work in
  125. all cases.
  126. - Sound distance falloff is now accurately using the same volume ranges
  127. from the original DOS release.
  128. - Objects that make consecutive sounds (such as the Chaingunner's gun
  129. firing) will now correctly interrupt each other.
  130. Add-on Specific Updates
  131. - Chainsaw firing in Add-ons has been fixed to its original optimal buzz.
  132. - Sounds at 22khz (such as the Double Barrel Shotgun) now play correctly in
  133. Add-ons.
  134. - In the Add-on "No Rest for the Living", Hell levels now use the correct
  135. hell sky texture.
  136. - Add-ons that are made up of multiple episodes can now be selected
  137. correctly.
  138. Fixes
  139. - Fixed stalls that may occur when quick loading the game several times in
  140. a row when Add-ons are active.
  141. Changes
  142. - Automap colors have been changed. It will now clearly mark doors, and
  143. keyed doors using red, yellow, blue, or white lines, making it quicker to
  144. find parts of the map that are unexplored.
  145. - Automap is drawn with pixel doubling to increase visibility and fix
  146. issues with lines disappearing.
  147. - Kills, items, and secrets are now shown on the automap during gameplay.

  149. - Quick Load now loads quicker by skipping the screen wipe animation when
  150. loading a game.

  185. compared to single player.
