  20. SnapShot is disk imaging software that enables the
  21. user to back up, restore and view backed up hard
  22. disk data, easily and safely. Using WindowsNT driver
  23. technology, Snapshot brings two new features to disk
  24. imaging:
  25. 1. Snapshot Backup - create disk images while
  26. Windows is running. This allows the user to work in
  27. his usual environment when backing up his data. Any
  28. device suitable for file storage can be used for the
  29. image destination, like your local drive, a network
  30. drive or any removable drive. And - most important -
  31. the image will be an industrial quality image, even
  32. though WinNT constantly writes to the disk. The user
  33. may continue to work normally, while a backup
  34. operation is in progress; the image will still be
  35. valid and consistent. This enables one of the most
  36. important things in backup business: backup often.
  37. It is even possible to make an image backup for
  38. servers, that must be online 24 hours a day.
  39. Snapshot Backup - Main use. Snapshot Backup is aimed
  40. at the backup/disaster recovery market. There is
  41. little use for on the fly disk image creation, if
  42. you want to deploy hundreds or thousands of
  43. workstations. We think however, that the possibility
  44. to do on the fly backup is very important for the
  45. end user to regularly protect his data. At least,
  46. this was our reason to create Snapshot. No need to
  47. shut down and boot from floppy, no need to create
  48. network disks, and no need to wait half an hour for
  49. the backup process - we think that's nice.
  50. 2. Snapshot View - Explore saved disk images the
  51. friendly way. The image file is presented to the
  52. user as a virtual drive. This virtual drive can be
  53. used like any other drive, using any Windows
  54. program, be it Explorer, Norton Commander, or your
  55. favourite MP3 Player.
  56. Snapshot View - Main use. Snapshot View is a very
  57. easy and powerful method to explore disk images.
  58. This technique could be easily adapted to disk
  59. images created by other disk imaging programs.
  61. * Create Disk Image Backups, While Running Windows.
  62. The Backup process will back up all your data into
  63. a single file, containing all data, including
  64. system data and registry, for total security,
  65. should your computer ever crash. There is no
  66. restart (to DOS) necessary. Ever.
  67. * Continue your work, while the Backup is in
  68. progress. The new Snapshot technology ensures that
  69. all data are consistent, and reflect the PC's data
  70. at the start of backup. There are no difficulties
  71. with opened files. Ever. This enables a very fast
  72. and easy way to back up servers and other
  73. computers, that must run 24 hours a day.
  74. * Easy Use and Restore of single Files or
  75. directories. Drive Snapshot creates a virtual
  76. drive, containing all your drive's data. You may
  77. use, compare, or restore these files directly from
  78. the Disk Image file. This works with any program
  79. of your choice, including (of course) the Windows
  80. Explorer.
  81. * Complete Restore of a disk in case of Disaster. If
  82. a disk is restored to its original state, it will
  83. be exactly the same as at the time of Backup -
  84. byte for byte. Restoring a system partition will
  85. require DOS; other drives can be restored using
  86. Windows.
  87. * Compatible with all Windows file systems (FAT16,
  88. FAT32, NTFS). Supports Linux EXT2/3/4/Reiser.
  89. * Compatible with all Windows RAID Methods.
  90. * Very easy and comprehensive command line
  91. interface. This makes automation of regular tasks
  92. a breeze.
